“ Great grocery shopping for Asian food and items. They have a hot food section, great for any to go food. Once you enter, there are bakery, fruit, vegetables, frozen food, meat/fish at the back. All kinds of Asian snacks and drinks on the shelves. Staff is always nice and friendly. They have lunar new year decorations on now. ”
“ They always have such a great selection of produce, their prices are more than fair, and the bakery is fantastic. I always stock up on my Asian food staples when I go here. I've been told by a friend to skip the fresh meat and fish section, though I am not sure why. ”
“ We were back at AFM past weekend to get our weekly meals. Fried fish, broccoli chicken, Eggplant with garlic sauce are few of the items we bought. All cooked same day, delicious taste. Prices are very reasonable and measured by weight. Friendly service, checkout line moves fast, and now they have loyalty membership. ”
“ For a Sunday, I found this store weirdly uncrowded, large, clean, and well stocked. Needing butane fuel, the people in Hot Foods directed me to an end cap in front of the fish department. While I was at it, I picked up some fresh looking produce. ”
“ The first and only location we could find and was confirmed by a previous restaurant owner. They had all the snacks and drinks we needed to last the weekend. There's also a hot food section as well, which my parents were very quick to order from. One thing to note is that in New Jersey, they banned bags, so bring your own or buy for $1.50. ”
“ My go to spot for Asian groceries. They have expanded their snack isle and updated the fish and meat refrigerators (recently) Fresh cooked food on the weekend. Nothing spectacular but they are solid and steady. Recommended! ”
“ I was hosting a hot pot night and I remembered my cousin mentioning that Asian Food Market was cheaper and had more selection than 99 Ranch. We came over around 5pm on a Friday night and it was pretty empty. I was able to find everything that I needed and then some. Their selection of meats is definitely A+. A lot of the staff were speaking Cantonese, so it made me feel a bit like I was back home in Brooklyn. A bit of home in JC! They had a lot of items that I've never seen in 99 Ranch and then even some I've only ever seen at more obscure markets that specifically cater to Thai or Vietnamese customers. They have a hot food section that I didn't try because we were planning on having Jolibee for dinner (it's in the same area), but I will definitely be back to purchase some meats and veggies. ”
“ It's more like 3.5 stars but I'll round up. I like going to Asian Food Market because it's one of the closer Asian supermarkets in my area, if I don't feel like going to 99 Ranch. Here is some of the good and the bad. Pros: 1. Prices are slightly cheaper than 99 Ranch 2. There's a huge selection of Thai, Vietnamese, and Filipino products. More than any other Asian supermarket chain I've been to. So whenever I'm looking for an obscure ingredient, I know I can find it here 3. There is a good selection of seafood but I usually only ever buy shrimp from here 4. There's a cooked food section with plate lunches and Chinese BBQ. I still haven't tried it yet but will need to one day because there are only so many places nearby I can get my cha siu fix Cons: 1. Produce can be hit or miss. There are certain items that look super fresh but others look like they've really been picked through and have been there for days 2. There's a bit of a funky smell in the meat section but I feel like most Asian supermarkets have that. I've only ever gotten beef bones/beef stew meat/pork bones, which were all packaged in the refrigerator section (though I'm sure they come from the back) so I can't speak to the butcher section There's another Asian Food Market in Piscataway, which is bigger and cleaner but if you don't feel like making the trek there, this one is a good option. ”
